Stayed in Bur Dubai this time around and the area is great for exploring. It’s not the prettiest part of town, in fact it’s quite commercial but good for Old Dubai area.
Here you can visit Bastakia Quarter, Dubai Museum, The Creek (where you can lunch by the waterfront or take a Dhow cruise), Bur Dubai Souk and the Heritage/Diving Villages. For a good al fresco lunch don’t miss a visit to the Basta Art Cafe, near the museum.
There aren’t alot of hotels in this area but it’s a short taxi ride to the glamorous hotels of Sheikh Zayed Road. Even Jumeirah Beach, Madinat Jumeirah, etc are very affordable by taxi due to the amazingly cheap fares.
Visit this area for historical Dubai and a central, city location. If you want a beach holiday head for Jumeirah.
